Hi there,

I'd like to upgrade and enjoy some more server uptime but I have a few questions first.

What sort of uptime can I expect?

How EXACTLY do I back up correctly?
I've done a full backup but I can't download the backup file - so surely it will be deleted with my account.

Could someone in admin back up, move and install my site for me? Is that what the 'script installation' option would provide?

Are you upgrading to a paid hosting package ?
If so then we will move your free account and all the contents to the paid server. The free account will remain until you confirm that all the contents has been transferred correctly.
The paid servers all have a 99% uptime.

If you are moving between free accounts (ad enhanced to ad free) then you will need to download the back up as we require your account is terminated before creating a new account.
The uptime of the ad free servers is better than the ad enhanced server at the moment. Averaging 96.5 % at the moment.

Ok, so I've upgraded. I can access the new control panel but where's my site? I have no access to the old control panel and it's not at the old address any more.

Did you read my above post.

So I see you posted a termination request and ScottD terminated your account so you wont be able to get in to the old cpanel.
Also you need to login to the account management panel -> http://www.x10hosting.com/login and link your forum account to your new cpanel account.

PS: I can't access the control panel at the moment but there should be a sufficiently recent backup on it which I am happy to use.

I wanted to move to paid - i didn't realise this was unclear. I kinda thought if I paid to upgrade then posted here - admin would know somehow because you don't say anything about what kind of upgrade or whatever. I really tried to get this right but I'm obviously totally inept.

I don't understand how Scott felt it was ok to delete everything after I explicitly asked for it to remain until I'd verified the site move - surely this should have flagged up I'd mis-understood something?

Well, i'm off to jump of a bridge.... gutted.

Ok. So I need to get this sorted ASAP.

Please can someone check if Scott really deleted the account (after being asked not to)

If it has gone how can I upload files in the upgraded control panel - all the options are different to free hosting and I don't see a file manager or php admin etc...

Hello, yes the account was terminated. DefecTalisman is talking to the admins about getting a backup for you. You will receive a reply shortly.

The backup hasn't worked because as I suspected the database didn't backup correctly.

To avoid this happening to anyone else could you possibly post a sticky clarifying that you should only post here if you want to move between free accounts.

Also a step by step back up guide would be useful if anyone has the time.
