Hi,

I plan to run a travelogue style website about my 4 year journey around the world to find a home. Currently I just have a blog Point2Point. But at this stage I would like a site to help publishize a book I am writing, photography, and to generally show people my progress in travelling the world looking for a home.

As such I really can't afford paid hosting, but can squeak by a domain. I am currently looking at various free hosts. Ad free. And X10 is one of them.

Having read through a lot of forum posts I have a couple of concerns.

1. Logging into the forums every 2 weeks. As I am on the road, and often in rather obscure places this will not be possible.

2. Access to site. This seems to be an issue with all free hosting options. A lot of ip ranges from outside the USA are banned. i.e. China, Brazil, Australia. As this will be a site for the internationally inclined it's essential they can see the site. IS this an issue here too?(is it the same with paid plans?)

You can purchase a inactivity timer here -> https://clients.x10hosting.com/order.php?step=2&pid=18

or if not then you are allowed to ask someone you trust to log in to the forums for you. You only have to login once in 2 weeks to reset the timer.

I don't actually know of any countries being blocked by x10hosting. There is a staff member from Australia. I know of a member that is from Brazil. There are always plenty of sites that are in Chinese even though it is against the TOS.

Ah, that's interesting about the inactivity timer!

Also interesting about your stats country location. Thanks for posting it. I saw some other posts here about people having problems accessing their sits due to country location and banned IP addresses so am just trying to get a grasp on the situation.

I have some more presign questions but will have a read through some of the other posts before asking.

Hello, to confirm this, i am from Australia, i do not have any problems connecting to sites.

Usually it is problems with users being able to sign up due to blocked IP addresses, users can usually visit the sites even if an IP address is blacklisted, UNLESS the IP address is blocked on the X10hosting firewalls.

Then you will not be able to access it.

But we don't normally have users having much troubles connecting to sites. Even from other countries.
