Domain hosting

I have signed up for a subdomain account. I am wanting to get a domain name. Can I do this with the site already set up under the subdomain or do I have to sign up again for something else?

Re: Domain hosting

Hi Bret,

As I know, you should buy or own a domain name from a registar and not from X10hosting, and if you have one, you should go to your Cpanel account and add the domain name and change your Regisatr DNS to X10Hosting DNS to redirect your domain name to your hoster (X10hosting), and after that go your X10hosting account page and change your subdomain to your main domain.

Hope my answer helped you, and if i have something wrong, please correct me guys.
Cheers!

First off, welcome to the community.

You cannot purchase a top level domain from x10hosting (.com .co.uk ) etc. You have to buy it from a domain registrar like Godaddy.com

Once you have done this, you will need to change either the primary domain of your x10hosting account to the domain name you bought which can be requested here i highly recommend this as it just makes it easier, or just add the domain name to your x10hosting cPanel and still be able to keep your subdomain.

Then you will need to change the name servers of the domain you bought to point to x10hosting which are ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com . If more name servers are required just add ns3. etc to start of the x10 domain name.

Turn around time from buying the domain and having it working on x10hosting is anywhere between 24hrs to 72hrs.

I hope this answers your question.
