I think it would be a great idea to run one or two little security competitions, but I don't very many credits to give as prizes unfortunately. Would anyone be willing to sponsor the competitions and offer credits to the winner (and maybe runner up)?

Everything is subject to change at the moment, I need to think things through, but that should give you a good idea.

What does everyone think about this? I think it would encourage people to be more cautious about security measures with php and sql, and hopefully there will be some good ideas about how to protect sites from security issues.

What exactly is the competition you want to set up?

GamingX - the competition details will be posted on the site at the above link. Some details are already there. Essentially it will be the competitor's task to find insecure portions of code which can be exploited, (thus discovering how to make them secure).

Sohail Amir - I'm asking for sponsors for prizes, I'd rather have some incitement for the competition before publishing it. I'm also asking for feedback on the idea. Though it's promising that you want to participate, if lots of people want this, I will throw all my energy into making it! If there is no interest, though, I won't bother.

Well I thought it was potentially a good idea, but so far there hasn't been the response I'd hoped for.
