I just found out about it a few days ago, and it fixed both of my 360's. I was just wondering if all of you know or if I'm not just a n00b and I found something cool. The towel trick is a fix for the red ring of death on the 360. You wrap the 360 in a few towels, leave it on for awhile, turn it off, and the xbox works again.

It fixes it in the short term, you'll soon experience the RROD again. Just send them into Microsoft, they'll fix them for free.

If I had the money to buy a 360, I wouldn't be wrapping it up in towels!
But hey, it sounds pretty weird, see if you can find a youtube video or something.

It isn't actually dangerous to do because the Xbox shuts off if it gets too hot. What you are doing when you wrap it in towels and turn it on is keeping all of the heat inside and causing the solder that cracked (Causing your red ring because the heat won't properly dissipate then) to melt back together. So if you actually leave it on for like an hour, you won't have to fix it again. I haven't had to anyways.

And sending your Xbox to Microsoft takes a few weeks, isn't free, isn't an option for someone who opened their Xbox, and just isn't as satisfying as doing a freakin' magic trick to make the red ring disappear.

Microsoft does not charge you to fix the RROD. They made an extended warranty just to fix that issue. They spent billions to do that.
