Something wrong, control panel freezes...
Whenever I go to the Game Controllers control panel in vista to set up my game controller, it just randomly freezes and I have to sit around twiddling my thumbs until it comes back to life again. This has happened with my current XBOX 360 controller, and my old Thrustmaster one as well, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the controller. Anyone able to offer any advice please?

Re: Something wrong, control panel freezes...
Does it happen if no controller is plugged in? Try unplugging your mouse/keyboard and see if it still happens. It might be because Windows is trying to check all your human input devices (that's the technical term lol) for the capabilities of a controller.

Re: Something wrong, control panel freezes...
Another problem might be a buggy driver or what not, but I highly doubt that's the case since the XBOX 360 controller is a Microsoft product, which ususally come with good drivers in Windows.

Slight problem there is... how would I start the control panel if I have no keyboard or mouse.
Kinda answering my own question here, I guess... Xpadder!
Ok, it seems this is the case, and that unplugging every other USB device temporarily fixes this issue. Anyone have any ideas how to properly fix it? Obviously, unplugging the keyboard and mouse isn't ideal!
Ok, just an update... It seems that when I unplug the UPS, it's all fine. For some reason, it looks like it's trying to configure the UPS as a game controller!

Re: Something wrong, control panel freezes...
lol yep... Any ideas how to stop the UPS acting as a faulty games controller? (I've contacted the seller and the people who make the software so hopefully they'll be able to yield some sort of useful information!)

Re: Something wrong, control panel freezes...
Does the UPS use a USB connection? Maybe you've got too many USB devices plugged in (like me :P).
