Should advertisers pay more per click on a forum than on a blog?

Forums have a history of not getting many clicks.

So if a user clicks on an ad from a forums, does that mean that he is more interested and more likely to yield a return for the advertising company? If so, advertisers should pay more per click. If not, charging more would be unfair.

Arguments?

Re: Should advertisers pay more per click on a forum than on a blog?

No I don't think they should because a person will only click on an advert if they are interested and how does it being on a forum or blog affect if someone is interested in an advert? If a forum owner is really that bothered in getting more money from pay per click adverts then they should probably think about starting a blog. Yes, it probably is unfair for forum owners that bloggers get more clicks on their adverts, but life is unfair at times and you have to live with it.

In a word: no.

Traffic is traffic no matter where it's originating from. I don't think advert owners should pay more per click "just because" ... but if the site is prime real estate then maybe they would. Same as television ads. Anything on during the Super Bowl is outrageously expensive. Midnight on UPN? Not so much. If forum adverts don't get a lot of clicks normally, why bother paying more to advertise there?

counter point:

If you are advertising on a forum, seeing as forums do not get as many clicks, you are getting tons of free impressions. So in a word you are getting more bang for your buck by advertising on forums.

It would seem pointless and complicated to the advertising system if they paid more per forum/site/forum or whatsoever. I would like them to keep the pay per click thing simple. One impression is how so ever amount of cash, nomatter where it is. and One click is how so ever amount of cash. nomatter where it is.
