Mac vs. PC

Which do you use? If you use a PC, do you use XP, Vista, or Linux? If you use a Mac, what are your favorite applications? Which do you think is better? Do you plan on switching? I use a Mac, and I don't plan on changing soon. No poll, let's just talk. Crossfire already has enough polls.

Re: Mac vs. PC

I use a PC, and I run Vista on my gaming computer, Windows XP on 2 machines at my house, 3 Windows 2000 boxes, and one Fedora Core 9 Linux box. My favorite apps are mainly Mozilla Firefox and my games, along with my IM programs and game programs like Steam. Not very productive so while I like productivity software, it's hardly open unless it's for some large school project. Otherwise, I don't plan on switching any time soon.

Re: Mac vs. PC

I have a PC and have never really used a mac (I have used one once for about 10 minutes and I wasn't that impressed by it). I am currently dual booting windows xp with Ubuntu 8.04.

Re: Mac vs. PC

i have two vista pc's and an xp laptop in regular use,
I also have a 2000, a 98, and a 95 in the basement.
accidentaly killed the 98 trying to make a dual boot with fedora though lol
quite frankly i can not stand macs. Thay are just too artsy for me. but I am really starting to hate vist because i had to reformat my hard drive just to get my printer to work. Also vista sucks up all of your memory, i have three gigs and it still runs slow sometimes. Apple your ipods are great but macs suck. but then again i havent used one for like 5 years and im pretty sure it was ancient then. hmm dont plan on switching anytime soon.

Re: Mac vs. PC

I use PCs, my main one running Vista (on 2GB of RAM, running great). I play games, and have a collection of Windows apps. I cannot stand Macs either, and they aren't very upgradeable (an important factor for me).

Re: Mac vs. PC

So far 3 PC's and one Mac. I plan on running Windows Vista on my Mac using an application called "Boot Camp." It reboots your computer in Vista/XP, but you need to buy a copy of it first. I wonder if I could run Linux with it.

Wouldn't parallel desktop work for that, or don't you have the program on your OS-X install?

Re: Mac vs. PC

I run Ubuntu 8.04 and Windows XP. Ubuntu gets the most use, and Windows barely gets used. I'm trying to get used to Mac OS X and I like the UI, but it is one of the worst operating systems I've ever used. Performance wise, I reckon Vista is actually faster. So Apple, stealing BSD code wasn't a good idea, your OS sucks.

But yeah, PCs win because of the software available. But Linux beats Windows and Mac hands down.

Re: Mac vs. PC

I have a two computers in my house. Both PC. One is Vista and the other is an XP. I Windows XP other than Vista because the performance is better. Don't plan on switching for a while.

I've used Macs a few times and they aren't as good as PC in my opinion. I lost almost all my documents and files when I used a Mac. (But I also think it was the fact of it being an old Mac)
