BBC iPlayer

The BBC iPlayer slogan:

Quote:
Making the unmissable unmissable
Should it have a comma between the two unmissables?

On one hand:
Two word that are the same beside each other should have a comma between them

but:
one's a verb and ones a noun and you don't say:

Making the cat, eat.

Re: BBC iPlayer

Well its a slogan so I dont spose it matters too much, and its priority is to be effective and memorable, so I would say no. Its more like the second example you have.

Re: BBC iPlayer

To be honest, I really don't think it matters. Sure it's a bit silly, but a comma wouldn't make much difference. And if they're going for a simple, minimalist title with no punctuation and no capitalisation, it'd look a bit lonely and stupid having the comma all out of place.

So yes to be correct English it should, but it is only a slogan and isn't really important.

Re: BBC iPlayer

Well let's lay it out.

Making the unmissable unmissable.

Seems fast, and has no dramatic effect.
Has good grammar.

Making the unmissable, unmissable.

Has a pause to savor it, and seems dramatic.
But it's been done before.
Incorrect grammar.
