RAM looks to be the way to go. Maybe to 4gig, I dunno how much that will cost, though.

Re: Upgrade My Computer

4GB worth of RAM would be worthless if the topic poster is not running a 64-bit operating system. 3GB would be the absolute max I'd say to go.

Re: Upgrade My Computer

I think upgrading the graphics would be the way to go if your mobo can support it. An 8500GT is a decent card, but all because it has 1.2 GB of onboard RAM doesn't make it a good card. $200 could get you cards that used to cost $500 a couple years ago

Just beware if you plan on getting a new graphics card you might have to get a new power supply too (I got a 650W Corsair with 52A on a single 12V rail for $60 after rebates)

I think the 8500GT has only 256MB of dedicated video memory, and the rest of the video memory is system RAM.

I don't know much about hardware for Windows, at the moment I have a Macbook Black with 2.4Ghz and 2GB RAM, works amazingly.

Hardware on a PC is the same as Hardware on a Mac. It's a fast processor a slow processor, dual core or quad core, slow RAM or Fast RAM, lots of RAM or very little RAM. On-board video/sound or PCI-E video and sound, etc.

Ah yes that would make much more sense now that I'm reading it

However I have seen rather low end cards with absurdly high amounts of onboard RAM.

Anyway, I would still suggest buying a new graphics card (and new power supply if more power is required)
