you can only use a Maximum of 2 GB DDR2 667-MHz if you put more in there the system wont be able to see it and besides 2GB is more then enough for windows xp

What the above poster said is correct. Your system cannot take any more than 2GB of RAM due to a motherboard limitation, but that is certainly enough even for gaming. Windows XP, however can handle up to 3.5GB of total system RAM because of the way 32-bit operating systems are built, given that your hardware can support the RAM. 64-bit operating systems can handle way more RAM, basically to the point where you won't need a swap file anymore. Also 667Mhz RAM should do you just fine. If for some reason your motherboard doesn't handle 667Mhz, the RAM should underclock to compensate for that, but of course you will lose performance that the RAM has to offer since it can't go at it's full speed.

Re: what type of ram does everyone have/suggest?
I use a Macbook Pro (no new model, about a year old), so I have 2GB DIMMs DDR2 memory. I don't like to fool around with non-Apple hardware on an Apple system (especially since it's my primary computer) , so I just plug in whatever Apple gives me

I'm on my really bad school-loaned HP tablet, which has 512 mb of RAM. (it SUCKS) You should probably have 1 GB at the very minimum, 2GB is better. But all the ram in the world won't help if you have a junk processor.

And a slow video card if you include that as well. But of course the video card and the hard drive all depend on what you're doing.
