Speedtest Information
Hello, i thought i would just post my speedtest results, it shocked me quite a bit, as i live in Adelaide, Australia.
Okay, so what makes me laugh is that i get better score to Washington DC than to my own home state, i am on a 1500k/256k plan, i only get about 1200/210 to Adelaide, and yet i got that score to Washington 10000 miles away, that is weird.

Re: Speedtest Information
Maybe the server in Adelaide is slow or maybe it was busy at the time with loads of other requests. Try it again some other time and see if you get the same result.

Re: Speedtest Information
OK here is my results:
Nearest server to me:
Washington DC server:
As you can see the results are near enough the same so it might of just of been your nearest server was slow at the time.

Re: Speedtest Information
Hello, i have just tested in another house, same results, i tested Adelaide Server, Sydney Server, and Washington DC, they are all pretty high, but Washington is still higher, and much higher, even if Adelaide server was laggy, for the Washington server 10000 miles away to be that much faster, doesn't make sense, especially 2 nights in a row on 2 different net connections, 2 different ISP's.
10000 miles away should be enough to equal the amount of lag the Adelaide server would be getting if it was getting any.
Is there any way it could be related to better technology via the Washington side of things, i know Adelaide still uses a lot of copper cable from exchanges etc....where as other countries have upgraded to fibre lines.
What could be possible other explanations for this, other than lag.

Re: Speedtest Information
Hmm could be server spec. I've got no idea what the Adelaide server spec is, but Id take an guess that its not as good as the Washington DC one. And not just the spec of the server, but the infrastructure around the server too.
BTW, comphelp, both your images are the same .

Re: Speedtest Information
Hi,
Look at them again there is only a couple of kb/s difference on each one.

Re: Speedtest Information
If it's only a couple kb difference, there's nothing eye popping there. That's normal, considering the way the internet works. If anything, whatever protocol the test is using (TCP or UPD) are very adaptive. Things will start off slow but will speed up to your max speed quickly as data starts to send/receive, and it's all latency based. Also don't forget, it's also dependant on your computer/network's MTU and the computer's RWIN values.

Re: Speedtest Information
The US has a lot of fast speed test servers. Though on my ISP I can test to any server in the world and get my exact speed I'm paying for or very close to it, the US servers tend to get lower latency I find as well, even though there is a server closer to me in another country than the New York City server.
