Re: phpBB Down
Your right, it is not funny, it is borderline hilarious and funny.
But, you think that they would of checked the HDD before using it

Re: phpBB Down
I'dve thought if they were running something that public that they'dve used the raid setup where you could have 2 discs fail and still recover the data (Raid 6? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standar..._levels#RAID_6 )
Still, I find it quite hilarious that they didn't keep close enough tabs on the server that two discs managed to fail at virtually the same time. Bad luck plays some part in disk failure, but how do you get two to fail at the same time and not realize that both were on the way out?

Re: phpBB Down
Perhaps made in the same batch -- batches of disks will have a closer Death rate.
One of my disks in my server failed, but it warns you beforehand (By setting the Disk Defunct, and allowing you to bring the disk back online to recover the data off it then replace the disk. I brought mine back online, and its quite happily chugging away on RAID 0 (Its just a test machine, running game servers, etc, throwawayable stuff like that).
