Best CRT/LCD for FPS Gaming?
So I'm using an ancient HP MX75 monitor, and it's getting dimmer by the day; who here uses a recent new CRT/LCD that is used for FPS gaming?
Please list model #'s, personal experience/recommendations, etc

I still do prefer CRT, but some of my friends say that their 2-4 ms LCD monitors aren't too bad

Re: Best CRT/LCD for FPS Gaming?
I'd go with CRT for now - for the most part they're cheaper than LCD yet.
Mines a ViewSonic UltraBrite A91f+, but I dunno if you can still get it anywhere.
In any case, try to find one with a similar feature to it's "UltraBrite Mode" - theres 1x, 3x, and 5x. 1x is for standard stuff, 3x brings out the contrast a bit more (in particular, black doesn't show up as "tv black," where it's still kinda gray, it goes almost completely black as though that section of monitor isn't on), and 5x is meant for tv/movies (brighter to bring out the contrast AT A DISTANCE, IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP FROM 4 INCHES AWAY).
Dunno what other CRT/LCD monitors have that feature though - I just know I absolutely love it. Handy for games like FEAR Extraction Point - theres a few areas that are pitch black unless your flashlight is on. On ultrabrite 3x with the lights off, if your flashlight is off, it really _is_ black :S
Oh, and I think my parents paid like $400 for it (big xmas gift For The Win!), but it's already a year old.

There are the specs to my monitor. I use it for gaming on, things such as wolfenstein: enemy territory to age of empires. Not relly tested a game such as halo, as not had the oppotunity. But from the games that I have played using the monitor, I have to say it is pretty good!

Re: Best CRT/LCD for FPS Gaming?
I would say go with a CRT for now anyway. LCDs have come a long way but I still don't see the point of having one yet since if you resize them from the "recommend" resolution then they will shrink or grow to fit the LCDs. Of course, doing that would blur the screen a little and that's espeically bad for full screen gamers.

Re: Best CRT/LCD for FPS Gaming?
Hm, how about a Compaq/HP 17" Flat Screen Monitor - FS7600e?
It's a CRT, but it looks relatively new, and is pretty cheap on eBay:
Diagonal Size: 17 in
Viewable Size: 16.0 in
Dot Pitch: .25 mm (horizontal)
Recommended Resolution: 1024 x 768
Refresh Rate at Recommended Resolution: 85 Hz
Maximum Resolution: 1280 x 1024
Refresh Rate at Max Resolution: 60 Hz
Display Type: Shadow Mask CRT
Weight: 35lbs
How does this compare with other newer CRTs?

Re: Best CRT/LCD for FPS Gaming?
I've conducted many experiments in this field, and I can conclusively say that you achieve the best quality graphics for Lemmings by using a CRT monitor. I feel that the anti-aliasing is improved and you can get a more smoothed edge on the lemmings.
However, for anything other than Lemmings, go for the TFT/LCD
